Jeremy has had a wide-ranging career including five years as deputy chairman of ASIC and is renowned for chairing the Cooper Review, a comprehensive review of Australia’s super system. Jeremy knows the super system inside out and his recommendations stemming from the Cooper Review have been substantially adopted through government reforms.

Jeremy is now chairman of Retirement Income at Challenger Limited, and focuses on research, public policy issues and thought leadership. He is also commonly recognised from regular media appearances and public speaking in relation to super and retirement income issues.

In this video Mr Cooper takes us through the new super environment, the 2016 budget and the impact on SMSF trustees.

About the speaker:

Jeremy Cooper is Chairman, Retirement Income at Challenger Limited, a full-time executive role focusing on research, public policy issues and thought leadership. Prior to joining Challenger, Jeremy chaired the ‘Cooper Review’ into the superannuation system, the recommendations of which have been substantially adopted.

Before his review role, Jeremy was Deputy Chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) for five years from mid-2004. Prior to his term at ASIC, Jeremy was a partner of an Australian law firm, now part of Ashurst.

Jeremy is commonly referred to as the ‘King of Superannuation’ a deserved title given his expertise in the field. He is a regular public speaker and media commentator on superannuation and retirement income-related issues.
